Carl Gustaf XVI’s jubilee room

1994 - 2001

In celebration of the present king’s twenty-fifth year of accession to the throne, a new room with a 20th century atmosphere was created under Åke Axelsson’s management. He was inspired by the sight of a summer meadow portrayed with a pile carpet and mural paintings. Chairs and sofas maintain a stylish balance between various styles of furniture, from the klismos chair to neoclassicism, a suggestion of empire and palpable functionalism.
