Fredrik Church chair

Åke was commissioned to develop a chair for the Fredrik Church in Karlskrona which was to be transformed into a flexible, multifunctional meeting place. The high expectations for the interior of the church was to be visible in the chairs. A unique chair is a costlier alternative but it gives a sense of quality to the interior design. For the back and the seat, parchment was chosen; a durable material that connects with liturgical books and manuscripts. Each chair then becomes unique in that the parchment has varying patterns and shifts that are reminiscent of clouds or abstract painting. 400 chairs were completed by Gärsnäs in time for the re-opening on 25 March 2018.
