Fredrik Church in Karlskrona

The church was intended to be a new public space, a multi-functional meeting place and an open door onto the square. Åke was commissioned to develop a chair that would be light, hard-wearing and comfortable with its own special expression. Parchment was chosen for back and seat, a reference to ancient liturgical books. Each chair becomes unique as the parchment varies in colour and patterns. 400 chairs were made by Gärsnäs in time for the re-consecration of the church in 2018.
